To be totally honest, I’m kind of bummed that this series is over but at the same time I’m so grateful that I got to share with you the lives and stories of some fantastic people.
People just like you and me who are living with this crazy thing called addiction.
If it wasn’t for siblings like: Nicole Spivey, Ginny Atwood, Linda & Merna, Theresa Valentin and Beth Glowacki (who you will meet today in the fifth episode), this project wouldn’t have been possible.
I hope they all know how much I appreciate and admire each and every one of them.
The last sibling that I interviewed for The Sibling Project was Beth Glowacki.
Beth, at the time of the recording, was a senior at the University of California-Berkeley, gearing up to graduate and head to medical school.
So, on one hand she’s got this fantastic new chapter in her life that she’s ready to open and explore.
But on the other hand, at home, her oldest brother is struggling with a heroin addiction while her other brother tragically died from a painkiller overdose in 2011.
In her interview, Beth and I talked a lot about how she’s always had to downplay her successes on account of her living brother’s addiction.
Playing small in order to avoid embarrassing the addict or alcoholic is unfortunately not uncommon for many siblings of addicts.
But Beth, regardless of how conflicted she might feel, keeps pushing forward and that’s why I’m excited to share her story with you.

And if you know of a family member, friend or anyone that could benefit from Beth’s story or any of The Sibling Project podcasts then please share an episode (or two) with them. Share buttons are at the bottom of this post.
You just never know who you might help by simply sharing.
