My birthday was this past Sunday and it was a BIG one. In fact, it was so big that I ordered an entire red velvet cake (27 slices in total) for me and Ryan to share.
Now, I’m not going to talk about how old I am now because as I’ve shared before I’m a little insecure about age. I’ve lied about it plenty in the past. So instead of lying, I’m just not going to mention it but I will tell you that this birthday puts me right in the middle;)
And, unlike the thirty something other birthdays that have passed (there’s another clue for you) this one has got me thinking more seriously about my health and my future.
I mean, let’s face it, as morbid as it is to think about, we only have a limited amount of time on this planet and I guess certain birthdays can remind us all of that.
Anyway, as I was thinking more about reaching this halfway point in my life (there’s another clue for you), I also realized that there are just seven months left in 2017!
So, that means if at the start of this year, you set out to accomplish a certain goal by the end of 2017, you only have seven more months to make it happen!
Now, I bring this up not to overwhelm you or to make you feel inadequate if you’ve fallen far and away from your goals – not at all.
BUT I did want to use this as an opportunity to gently nudge you back on track, if you need a friendly nudging. Personally, I know I needed this wake up call so I’m right there with you.
Whether your goal at the start of 2017 was to heal an estranged relationship with an alcoholic someone, to start a self-care practice, to stay sober, to start therapy or to lose weight – whatever you were after, whatever you were excited to make happen this year, there’s still time to do it. There’s still time to give that thing, whatever it is, your best shot.
At the end of this year, when the clock strikes midnight, what do you want to have created or accomplished that will make you so f**king proud? Whatever that is for you, now is the time to refocus, recommit and give it everything you’ve got to make it happen.
As Paulo Coelho says,
“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do the things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”
If you want to take this challenge one step further, head to the comment section now and tell me that one thing you want to accomplish by the end of this year, no matter how big or small.
Remember your voice, experiences and insights are vital to this community. And what you have to share is not only unique but it may be exactly what someone else needs to read. And that someone could be you.
Thank you for reading, commenting and sharing.
I believe in you,
